The GBMA is the industry body for plasterboard manufacturers in Australia and New Zealand . Members include BGC, CSR Gyprock, Etex (Siniat), Knauf and Winstone Wallboards.
The GBMA works closely with the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries Australia and New Zealand (AWCIANZ) www.awcl.org.au
which represents the interests of its member companies and plasterers in Australia & New Zealand.
The aim of the GBMA Is:
- To advance the development of the gypsum wallboard industry in Australasia; and
- To present a unified and coordinated approach to addressing issues in relation to, but not limited to. Safety, Sustainability, Installation and Compliance to Standards Australia, Standards New Zealand and government building regulations.
The GBMA strongly supports Compliance:
The Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 2589:2017 Gypsum linings – Application and finishing pertains to our industry.
The objective of this standard is to provide manufacturers, designers and users of gypsum linings with requirements for the
application and finishing of such linings in residential and commercial construction applications. This standard provides a reference
for the building industry and specifiers and a basic Standard for adoption in contracts.
The GBMA works to promote the value of plasterboard in many areas including acoustics, energy saving, sustainability, fire ratings, impact resistance.
Sustainability: The GBMA were integrally involved in the three year project by BPIC*, ALCAS* , the CSIRO* in partnership with the Federal Government to provide “Australian” Life Cycle Inventory data of building materials to assist Life Cycle practitioners, architects, designers, engineers, builders, developers and regulators to more accurately asses the impact buildings have on the environment.
